Join Lidia Rozmus at a special workshop on Tuesday, September 26 from 6-8 p.m in the RCAH Art Studio, Terrace level. She will give the workshop on an introduction to Sumi-e and Haiga.  This workshop is held as part of the exhibit Haiga: The Poetry of Images, at the RCAH LookOut! Art Gallery from September 25-October 13

Workshop Details:

The spark between image and word first arced a long time ago with ink and brush. Come find out about the ancient art of sumi-e, or “black-ink pictures,” from a classically-trained artist. Using traditional brush, ink, and paper, learn some basic brush strokes and how to paint a simple image. Come learn about haiku, too, and how to pair your ink drawing with one of these small poems to create haiga, literally “playful paintings,” in which image and word complement each other. No prior experience necessary, simply come ready to explore what’s new about an ancient art. Materials will be provided.
