How did you decide on RCAH?
To be honest, RCAH found me. They sent me a letter in the mail, and my mom convinced me to check it out; it seemed like a cool little program. I arrived at Snyder/Phillips and took the RCAH tour: the theater, the LMC & art studio, classrooms, practice rooms, and the Center for Poetry. I've been in love ever since.
What are your academic interests?
Art, culture, and most importantly, poetry. I love a great piece of literature. This has resulted in my dual degrees: RCAH and English (Creative Writing). I am also a part of the American Indian Studies Program. I'm here to absorb as much wisdom as my young mind can.
What are your favorite aspects of the RCAH experience?
The community. Every student at RCAH brings something fresh, and unique, to the college. It has changed my perception on the world around us; RCAH challenges you to recondition your thoughts and habits. It is a holistic learning experience, unlike anything else at Michigan State. The people are simply beautiful.
What are your future plans?
I will be pursuing my MFA in poetry. Don't know where just yet--shooting for beyond the stars. I'll let the tao take me from there.
What are your hobbies and interests within and outside of RCAH?
I love walks. And nature. Piano and painting are pretty fun as well. I jam with my friends. Record music. I also write for a hip-hop blog focusing on social justice. When I find the time, I try to meditate and stretch. All about keeping the peace.
