Kathleen Livingston is a queer femme storyteller and community-based artist, organizer, and scholar. She earned a PhD in Rhetoric & Writing (Michigan State University), an MA in Critical Studies in Literacy and Pedagogy (Michigan State University), and a BA in Women & Gender Studies (Oakland University).
Kathleen's research focuses on consent in LGBTQ culture and communities. She is particularly interested in using the community-based methods of self-education and peer education to teach consent. She believes that since U.S. colleges and universities are now required to have sexual consent policies, we have a responsibility to teach our communities what consent means in practice. She is currently working on a collection of lyric essays on the elements of consent. Kathleen sits on the Board of Directors of The Firecracker Foundation. She also works professionally as a contemporary circus performer, doing acrobatic and lyric storytelling.
