WNL: "Promethea in Prison"

Wed, February 27, 2019 7:30 PM at Passant Theater, The Wharton Center for Performing Arts

Promethea in Prison is an innovative theatrical reading by Theater of War Productions of Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound presented as a catalyst for discussion about the relationships between the imprisoned and their jailers. Translated, directed, and facilitated by Bryan Doerries. Dominic Dupont will be co-facilitating.

As punishment for giving fire to mankind, Zeus sentences Promethea to be chained to a rock at the end of the world for eternity. She remains steadfast in the righteousness of her cause throughout her punishment. This unique, participatory twist on the ancient myth highlights interplay between confrontation and compassion and is performed by acclaimed, nationally-renowned actors,

The dramatic reading will be followed by an audience conversation facilitated by Dominic Dupont, who spent 20 years in state prison starting as a teenager, and was granted clemency in 2017 by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Sponsored by MSU Federal Credit Union, with support from the MSU Residential College in the Arts and Humanities.
