Join us for the fall Creative Writing Faculty reading, featuring alum Kate Birdsall, Hannah Ensor, and Teresa Milbrodt. The event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Department of English.The image says "Kate Birdsall is the author of the mystery The Flats (2017). A follow up, The Hights, will be released in early 202, and she's beginning to draft the third in the Liz Boyle mystery series - she does her best work in the fall. Kate earned her PhD from MSU English in 2014; she is currently an assistant professor in WRAC, where she teaches courses in professional writing, creative writing, and IAH. She lives in Michigan's capital city with her partner and at least one too many four-legged creatures." The second box says "Hannah Ensor is the author of Love Dream with Television. With Laura Wetherington and Jill Darling, she co-wrote the collaborative poetry chapter book at the intersection of 3, and with Natalie Diaz she served as associate editor of Bodies Built for Game, an anthology of contemporary sports literature. Hannah is also a co-editor of textsound.org and a contributing poetry editor for DIAGRAM. In 2019 she was awarded the Judith A. Markowitz Award for Emerging Writers from Lambda Literary." The last box says "Teresa Milbrodt is the author of two short story collections, Bearded Women: Stories, and Work Opportunities; a novel, The Patron Saint of Unattractive People; and a flash fiction collection, Larissa Takes Flight: Stories. Her fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry have appeared in numerous literary magazines. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing and MA in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University, and her PhD in English from the University of Missouri with emphasis in Fiction Writing and Disability Studies."
