About the Alumni:

JeNiece Freeman-Holt, ‘18

JeNiece graduated in 2018, and is a Challenge Detroit Fellow. Challenge Detroit is a leadership and professional development program that nurtures 30 Detroiters annually, encouraging them to live and lead in their community. Her primary duties include assisting in managing the platform’s website and social media, as well as supporting the day-to-day operations of the marketing team. She also provides research and analysis on selected topics and aids project management.

Madeleine Gorman, ‘17

Madeleine graduated in 2017 with a major in RCAH and Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Her first job after graduation was as the Coastal Waters Coordinator for the Michigan Coastal Management Program, housed in the State of Michigan's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. In her time at the Coastal Program, Madeleine has seen a lot of change, including a new governor, a new department, and a new job title! Her main work concentrates on working with local governments, non-profits, and universities to protect, restore, enhance, and wisely develop the longest freshwater coastline in the U.S. Outside of her full-time job, she is an assistant coach for the Haslett Community Swim Team (go Seahawks!), trains lifeguards, and spends time at the dog park with her fluffy fur-baby, Hazel.

Christina Igl, ‘16

Christina graduated from RCAH in 2016 with an additional major in Spanish and a minor in Peace and Justice Studies. She worked in a public library before deciding to pivot and pursue a career in student affairs. Christina was an adviser with the MSU College Advising Corps in a small school in Holton, Michigan, near Muskegon. In this role, she developed curriculum for and taught a rowdy bunch of middle school students, helped seniors with the college application process, wrote, received, and managed grants of over $36,000, and coached varsity bowling. Tahis work confirmed Christina’s interest in student affairs and encouraged her to pursue a master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration. She is finishing up her first semester of graduate school at MSU, where she is also an assistant community director right here in Snyder Hall.

Samantha Kinjorski, ‘17

Samantha graduated from Michigan State in December of 2017 with a BA in RCAH as well as a BFA in Graphic Design. During her time at RCAH, Samantha worked as a LMC consultant and the Student Communications assistant as a photographer and designer. Her fondest memories of RCAH were attending Eric Aronoff’s Green Israel study abroad program. Samantha now works as a Junior Graphic Designer at Avanti Press, a greeting card company located in downtown Detroit. Samantha spends her time illustrating, art directing, and promoting her company’s greeting cards. She spends her free time perfecting her hand-lettering skills and traveling the world.

John Nowak, ‘15

John graduated in 2015 with majors in RCAH and Spanish. He is a professional musician in a nationally touring band, Desmond Jones. When not on tour, he teaches private music lessons in Grand Rapids and music enrichment sessions for people with special needs. John loves to collect vinyl records, shoot film photos, and lie in his hammock.

Amanda Sherman, ‘13

Amanda graduated in 2013 with majors in RCAH and Hospitality Business. Since graduation, Amanda has worked her way through the many niches of event management and is ranked among the youngest to achieve the Certified Meeting Professional designation. Starting out as a Management Development Program Associate at The American Club Resort in Kohler, Wisconsin, Amanda quickly discovered her passion for event design. Over her five years with Kohler Company, Amanda was given the opportunity to lead the Kohler Experience Center Storeroom Grand Openings, which kicked off her exposure to global event planning. Fast forward to today and Amanda has made her way back to the great mitten state and now works as the Manager of Team Member Events at Credit Acceptance. She has transitioned from offering world-class events for corporations to a role that offers her the opportunity to make a profound impact on the team members of her new company.
