Ashlee Chesny, Author was & Founder of Zoraphile

In 2018 Detroit native and author Ashlee Chesny was asked to present for a Black History Series. At the time, she had no idea that it would change her life. The innovative speaker had presented Langston Hughes, and a woman she had known as the author of Their Eyes Were Watching God. Quickly she found herself enthralled with that author, Zora Neale Hurston, whom she would begin presenting annually. Four years later, she has published her first article on Hurston, has a forthcoming book highlighting Hurston creatively, and a business called Zoraphile that sells items for Hurston fans. Chesny’s goal through her speeches, published work, and Zoraphile store is to make sure that everyone knows Hurston, not just for her accomplishments but for the fantastic truth of her life.
