Biography
Candace Moore is a teacher and learner, based in the Curriculum, Instruction and Teacher Education doctoral program. After teaching various English courses in high school classrooms for 15 years, she is now inquiring into philosophical, epistemological and historical underpinnings of American education, especially Black education spaces, by taking and making opportunities to engage in transdisciplinary study and conversation. She is interested in exploring teachers of students of color, and how they learn to orient themselves and their pedagogies toward criticality and liberation for students, and hopes that research also crosses disciplines and departments. Additionally, she is always available for critical conversations about reality television or searching for the best slice of cake in any given city.
