Biography

Adrienne Rodriguez is a Ph.D. candidate and graduate assistant in music education at Michigan State University. As a graduate assistant Adrienne has acted as instructor of record for undergraduate courses in elementary and early childhood music education, assisted in several undergraduate music education courses, and currently supervises student teachers and acts as the advisor for the National Association for Music Education Collegiate Chapter. Her research interests include musical parenting, parent experiences in the context of early childhood music classes, and of popular and vernacular music education.

Prior to coming to Michigan State, Adrienne was an elementary music teacher in Hillsborough County, Florida. During her time in Florida she also taught early childhood music classes for parents and children from birth to age five, as well as private music lessons in guitar, voice, and piano. Adrienne holds degrees in music education from The Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. In her free time, Adrienne enjoys attending theater and music events, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Phoebe and husband, Nelson.
