Lily Dixon, a  junior in the Residential College in the Arts & Humanities (RCAH) at Michigan State University, has been named a finalist for the 2026 Truman Scholarship, one of only 198 finalists nationwide for the prestigious award. In addition to her arts and humanities major in RCAH, Dixon is majoring in public policy through the College of Social Science and minoring in design justice and music.

Awarded to only 50 to 60 students a year, the Truman Scholarship recognizes college juniors based on their commitment to public service and advocacy.

“I am honored to represent my home state of Michigan and Michigan State University as a national Truman Finalist,” Dixon said. “Although not a typical candidate as an arts and humanities major, I believe this is a testament to the unconventional and individualized curriculum RCAH offers.

“I couldn't be in this position with my fellow students, professors, and advisors in RCAH and the ALLC.”

With her background in arts, humanities, and public policy, Dixon is poised to make a significant impact in advocacy. Finalists will interview with the Foundation in the coming weeks, with the 2026 Truman Scholars announced on April 24.
